Nielsen Psychological Services is committed to supporting first responder agencies through accessible, practical, and informed mental health services. We understand the realities of serving mountain and rural communities and the importance of support that meets departments where they are.
Our approach is designed to be flexible, scalable, and responsive—growing alongside your team and adapting as your needs evolve. Whether your department is seeking foundational education, supplemental services, or long-term partnership, NPS provides options that fit the demands of your work and the communities you serve.

This is the foundation of our work with departments.
We start with access to NPS Monthly, a 12-month virtual psychoeducation training series.
Additional services are available as needed, allowing agencies to tailor support to their specific requirements throughout the year.
This is the psychoeducation series at the core of our Partnership Program. These sessions create a consistent and meaningful connection between our practice and your team.
Each month features a focused, stand-alone topic. Across the year, the series provides a broad range of tools—supporting your team’s internal mental well-being and departmental practices while also offering practical psychological strategies to use on duty and when interacting with the public.
Trainings are delivered virtually live each month to all partnered departments, with recordings distributed afterward for your records.

Wellness Screening Protocol
Following the format created by Dr. Nielsen, these Wellness Screenings serve as an alternative to traditional pre-employment screenings. They are especially recommended for new hires, helping establish a positive association with behavioral health early in their careers. It can also be administered following a critical incident or on an annual basis. The initial assessment provides a baseline, with subsequent assessments allowing for meaningful comparisons over time.
Each assessment includes a structured interview covering 10 domains of wellness, along with four standardized screening measures for depression, anxiety, alcohol use, and trauma.
